The Educational Pathway is designed for physicians completing the residency curriculum or other ABLM-approved equivalency pathway that integrate lifestyle medicine competencies.
📚 Option 1: Residency Curriculum Pathway
Completion of one of the following:
- Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum (LMRC)
- Faculty Learner Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum (FLMRC)
Requirements:
- 40 hours of interactive virtual didactic content
- 60 hours of application activities

400 lifestyle medicine–related patient encounters, including all 4 core sub-components:
- Nutrition
- Physical Activity
- Stress, Sleep & Social Connection
- Substance Use
- 10 hours of (Intensive) Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (ITLC or TLC) program experience
- 10 hours of group facilitation experience
đź“– Option 2: ABLM-Approved Educational Equivalency Pathway
Completion of an ABLM-approved lifestyle medicine educational equivalency pathway that includes:
- 100 hours of educational content
- Coverage of 100% of all ABLM competencies

400 lifestyle medicine–related patient encounters, including the 4 core sub-components:
- Nutrition
- Physical Activity
- Stress, Sleep & Social Connection
- Substance Use
- 10 hours of (Intensive) Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (ITLC or TLC) program experience
- 10 hours of group facilitation experience
📝 Important Notes
- Certification is issued only after successfully passing your primary board exam.
- However, you may take the ABLM exam during residency.
- If selecting the Educational Pathway, you will be required to upload a Letter of Attestation from your Program Director confirming completion of the LMRC, FLMRC, or ABLM-approved Equivalency Pathway.
