The National Training Initiative (NTI), led by ACLM, is designed to expand the integration of lifestyle medicine into primary care, with a strong focus on improving healthcare in underserved communities.
The program provides a 50% scholarship match for primary care providers working in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), enabling them to obtain board certification in lifestyle medicine.
By equipping healthcare professionals with evidence-based knowledge on nutrition, physical activity, and other lifestyle interventions, NTI aims to address the high burden of chronic disease in populations that often face significant healthcare disparities. These communities, which may have limited access to preventive care and lifestyle-focused treatments, stand to benefit from a more proactive approach to health, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes and reduced healthcare costs.
